About Abby


Abby was admitted to the State of New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Judicial Department in January of 2022 and to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York in February of 2022. Abby McCormick-Foley graduated cum laude from Albany Law School at Union University and summa cum laude from the College Honors Program at the State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Spanish. Abby is fluent in Spanish and has spent time volunteering in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

In law school, she volunteered with Project Totem, a nonprofit that provides legal translation where she coordinated translation services for firms and clinics who serve non-English speakers and provided Spanish-English translations when volunteers were unavailable and the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, providing research and case management for the Closing the Gap program which focused on housing, debt collection, untimely answers, and binding stipulations, where she drafted Motions to Dismiss, Orders to Show Cause, answers, demands for documents/interrogatories, and affidavits for lower income clients. Abby was a Law Intern at the Albany Law Justice Center in the Immigration Clinic, during which time she provided direct representation to non-detained immigrants, coordinated all client communications, conducted fact finding to supplement a USICS application, and drafted supplemental answers to such application. Finally, Abby spent two years working as a Law Clerk in the Legal Department at the Public Employees Federation, assisting in the defense of public sector Union members facing disciplinary action. There, she drafted memoranda and pleadings and researched public and private sector labor and employment, Civil Service, and Constitutional law, prepared arbitration materials, and assisted with motions and pleadings for Supreme and Appellate court proceedings.

Two years ago, Abby founded an animal rescue called Protectors of Paws & Claws, Inc., which she incorporated as a charitable organization in New York State and registered as a 501(c)(3). She serves as Executive Director.

After Abby took the Uniform Bar Exam, she was hired at Capezza Hill, LLP to work as an Associate Attorney. She was admitted to the New York State bar in January and the Northern District of New York in February.
