About Jim
Jim Connor is an accomplished litigator and former federal law clerk with more than three decades of experience in complex litigation, judicial decision making, and legal ethics. From 1991 to 1993 and from 2001 to 2025, he served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Thomas J. McAvoy of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, where he conducted extensive legal research, drafted proposed judicial opinions across diverse areas of federal and state law, and assisted in both civil and criminal trials. His work also included drafting opinions for the Committee on Codes of Conduct, supporting ethical guidance for federal judges and court personnel. From 1993 to 2001, Connor was a partner at Connor & Connor in Hudson, New York, representing clients in civil rights, employment, criminal, and family law matters and appearing before state and federal courts, including the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He holds a J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, an M.S. in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a B.A. from Saint Michael’s College. Connor has also taught at the college level and delivered numerous professional lectures on ethics, municipal liability, and family law.
